Rent Deposit Scheme
The Trust in partnership with Purbeck District
Council operates a scheme to provide a loan to cover any
deposits and/or rent in advance for homeless families intending to
rent in the private sector.
Who is eligible?
The scheme applies to anyone who is homeless, has a priority
need for accommodation and a local connection within the Purbeck
area. Even if you have been deemed intentionally homeless the Trust
may be able to offer you a loan through the scheme.
What does the rent deposit cover?
The scheme will normally pay your first month’s rent in advance,
plus a similar amount as a damages deposit. If you’re not intending
to claim Housing Benefit the Trust will have to be satisfied that
your income is sufficient to cover your rent.
How is the loan repaid?
The loan is usually repaid by Direct Debit or voucher book.
What happens at the end of the tenancy?
At the end of the Tenancy the Trust should receive a refund of
the damages deposit and the rent in advance from your landlord.
Should the landlord retain all or part of the deposit against
damage to the property, it will be your responsibility to contest
any such claim.
